Don't listen to weird prudes who never raised any kids themselves, but rather have nannies and tv raise their kids. More love you show your kids, in a regular, normal, not sick way, more adjusted and secure they will be and have confidence when they grow up.

Not only inappropriate, but really not normal. We have five kids. The youngest is in high school. Three boys. No way would they have even considered sleeping in our bed. I would be more concerned about why he wants to sleep in your bed. Seems like maybe some mental health counseling might be helpful.

By 13, most boys are very independent.

Nothing wrong with it. 13 year old is a child and it is sweet. Try not to go all Puritan and push your loving child away. Boy, girl, father, mother, it is all fine. Only perverts see something wrong in it, because they imagine their own perversion in everything.

I'd cuddle with my kid that age watching TV or something, reading a book to him or listening to him read to me, but not sleeping the whole night.

My son wanted to sleep in my bed when my husband traveled for business, because he hates being alone anyway. But he was a lot younger, and I put a stop to it around age 6 or 7. Can't remember now. But that was mostly because he'd have to be laying up against me like a little heat-a-lator, even though it's a huge bed, and I can't sleep like that. It would honestly feel weird to me now.

Unless he is sick or went through something traumatic that day like a grandparent or pet dying, it is just weird.

Does he like to cuddle and be affectionate at other times? Or just when his dad is gone? That's the part that honestly creeps me out the most...

No, that's not cool. Imagine how you'd feel if a father asked this about his DD!

No, I think that's inappropriate. Oedipal complex going on, especially since it's when your DH is away.

IDK, my Tweens both like/liked sleeping in my bed, but we're the same gender.

I would think a boy going through puberty would be worried about perfectly natural morning erections occurring while he was laying next to Mom.

How would you answer this question if a Dad were asking about his 13 yo daughter?

Sure, unless he's like smooshed up against you. Although one thing to consider is that if it hasn't already started, puberty will be hitting along with the embarrassing thing that happens during puberty for boys. Just might want to prepare for the possibility of it happening when he's in your bed and how embarrassed he may feel after.

My son, on occasion likes to sleep in my bed when my husband/his dad is traveling. It's not an all the time thing, but every once in awhile. This is ok at 13, right?
