Definitely craft sets. My 6 yo girl LOVED craft sets and there are some really fun ones at the good toy stores, or even at grown-up arts stores like Plaza Arts in DTSS.

Expereince gift that won't be too hard on the parents? Is there a nearby indoor trampoline park or painting place to which you could buy a class pass, studio time, or gift certificate?

Give an experience rather than a physical gift.

The daughter of very close friends of ours is turning 6 on Saturday and we want to get a nice gift. She has grandparents that spoil her and her 2 sisters pretty hard and they seem to have more toys than I've ever seen in my life. I can't imagine that another toy is really going to be that interesting? Please let me know if you have any really great gift ideas for girls. Price under $40.
