Daily to parents, 1-2 times a week to siblings. Text often as well. We all live in different countries, but we are very close.
Husband's parents are gone. He talks to his siblings maybe twice a month.

Frequently. Occasionally when busy / nothing of note happening we will go for a few weeks, but more generally I talk to my mom a couple times a week at least. And then we have a fairly significant amount of in person visits.

But my mother really likes to talk on the phone and can carry a conversation solo. So for simple check in phone calls I will frequently multi-task and call while walking somewhere, cooking dinner, moving around the house doing chores, etc. So my recommendation if you just want to feel closer to family is to buy a nice set of earbuds so that you can talk hands free while getting something else done. Pretty easy to chat while doing laundry, dishes, toy clean up, etc.

Mine are close by and I talk to them every couple of days. Now that I'm pregnant and towards the end we have a quick "no baby yet" conversation every day and same for my DH and his parents.

My father is deceased, but we didn't talk often when he was alive.

I talk to my mom almost every day.

PP again. I should add that my brother lives the closest (about 1 hour flight). He doesn't have kids yet and has a lot of flexibility (and occasionally needs to be up here for work), so he actually comes to visit fairly often...maybe once every 2 months since DD was born. He usually spends one night of his visit with our, single, cousin who's close by and hangs out with his best friend who also lives her. We rarely talk much on the phone otherwise except for logistical reasons or major things like job changes.

Dad and grandmother - 30 minutes once a week. Sister - 30 minutes once or twice a month. When my mother was alive we spoke every other day.

I talk to my mom and dad at least twice a week for about an hour each time. My two siblings and I don't talk on the phone except to arrange logistics to see each other 3-4 times a year.

It feels weird to go longer than a week without talking to my mom.

Rarely. My mom never calls and neither do I. Most of our communication is via facebook with an occasional email thrown in. Same with my siblings. My family isn't close at all. When we get together it's almost like meeting up with strangers in a lot of ways. I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm a lot younger as well, and my parents divorced when I was 3 and my mom remarried so I don't have the shared past of being raised by both parents in the same house.

My parents move around a lot, about to move back across the country. Sister lives in Portland. Brother lives in Atlanta.

I used to talk to my dad damn near every day until I got into a serious relationship in my late 20s, then it was every few days. Now with a baby in the mix it can be a week. But at least once a week.

I almost never talk to my mom on the phone, but we text in spurts. Lots of exchanges/long exchanges for a couple days, then not again for months.

I Skype with my siblings about 1x/month so they can see their niece. I talk to my brother probably one more time on the phone, so with him, roughly 2x/month.

My mother lives across the country. I haven't spoken with her since I was 16, and for the last three years of speaking to her we barely ever spoke.

My father lives an hour and a half plane ride away, and we haven't spoken since early 2015.

My husband on the other hand! His family also lives across the country. He has a standing Sunday morning call with them each weekend. Generally lasts about an hour. I try to take the kids out of the house so they're not disturbing him. I think sometimes he speaks with his mom during the week too.

PP again - the whole reason I moved far away was so that I wouldn't have to deal with my family on a daily basis. Apparently my mother didn't get the memo

I have always been really close to my family, but I live across the country so I certainly don't see them more than twice a year, and don't get to talk to them as much as I would like. Life is just busy and the time difference is hard.

I probably talk to my dad 2 times per month for 5-10 mins, my mom 2 times per month for 10-15 mins, and my sister maybe once a month max for like 5 mins. I would especially love to talk to my mom more... But I can't seem to find the time. I have young kids and work full time (as do my parents and sister).

If your family doesn't live close by, how often do you talk to them?
