If you are on FA they will cut it.

if this were true, what type of parent would share this?

People are so gullible. Putting aside the titillating tale of corruption, this sort of news/decision would never come from the classroom teacher. People should really try to use a little bit of commonsense in evaluating posts made anonymously.

I can not imagine anyone in the right mind would share a story of their DC being asked to leave to another parent from the same school!

That story does not ring true.

In what city did this occur? Not Washington DC, correct?

Almost weekly calls from the teacher, a request to get a pyschoeducational evaluation, frequent meetings with the head, followed by a couple meetings with the principal.

Grandma should put the money in the college fund instead. Why keep a child at a school that does not want them?

Went to private school and can confirm that's where I learned that money can buy almost anything. Was a harsh, but useful, life lesson.

Trying to imagine how a donation large enough to skew how the faculty and administration run the school, could just show up out of the blue without anyone bothering to find anything out about the donor's connection to the school.

The number and length of parent/teacher conferences could be a factor.

Has your child had sustained academic difficulties or behavioral problems? It sounds trite, but that is honestly the first indicator. Have you been willing to work with the school and accept suggestions? Schools are not hasty to counsel out students, but there can be circumstances where it is clear to school would not continue to be a good place for a child: for example a child who is clearly struggling a great deal academically in middle school and the upper school is seen as significantly more rigorous. Obviously there are phrases that can be used, such as whether School is a "good fit," but they can also come right out and say "we think [student] will not be able to have a good academic experience at the next level" based upon past experience and test scores etc.

You could also have a situation where a child is diagnosed with very significant learning differences and the school is not one equipped with a significant support system for learning differences. The child could very well thrive in the right setting, but the school itself knows it is not best equipped to help that student succeed at their highest level. That is not saying the child is not good enough, but the school simply does not have the resources necessary.

What are the early signs of signs of being counseled out? Are there particular catch phrases that I need to be listening for?
