OP here. Well the back pain and cramps have gone away. It's my 2nd viable pregnancy but I was induced the first one and don't know what non-pitocin contractions feel like.

Hope this happens soon!!

I had cramps starting around 39 weeks as well. Never went into labor and was induced at 41 weeks. So you just never know.

I had early contractions that felt like cramps for two weeks before I went into labor. So yes, it's probably early labor, but it means labor is coming sometime in the next few weeks (which you knew already).

Could be back labor. I hope not for your sake, but I never had the cramp type contractions with my first.

My early contractions felt like menstrual cramps. At 39 weeks I'd say yes.

That's exactly how it started for me. Awful back pain. Good luck!

It could be. That was the last few weeks of my pregnancies, period. But, you are 39 weeks so chances are baby is coming soon regardless.

Is this your first? I found out contractions can feel different for different people. My friend told me her contractions felt like cramps. I never felt crampy, myself. Maybe what you're feeling are contractions?

No clue, but I am 38+3 and same exact thing (doctor thinks I'll deliver in the next few days). Good luck!

I am so ready to have this baby. I walked a bunch, ate some spicy food and got a pedicure yesterday. My lower back was killing me last night and I am feeling very crampy in my lower pelvic region. No contractions though. Is labor on the horizon soon? I'm so ready to have this baby. Any insight?
