You cannot avoid etching, so you should embrace it. If you are selling, refinishing is a good idea. The green scrubbie changed the surface of my countertop, so I recommend using that with caution.

I think the issue here is you need to understand that etching is part of marble. There is no way to protect against it. If you choose marble, it's gonna etch. Over time the etching will become less pronounced (especially on a honed finish, I wouldn't ever recommend polished for counters). It will develop a patina that is actually quite charming and attractive. Don't choose marble if this bothers you! Even if you repair the etches, they will come back!

I have a client with an etched counter top. Loads of problems trying to rectify. It has taken me 3 months to find an adequate solution and have introduced 4 different companies. The answer is to use Rose Resoration. $600 to hone and then resell and polish the counter top insitu. It will take about 6hrs.

You could have the counter rehoned as well if you have a honed finish. Polished finish is harder to repair.

That's pretty cheap. Have you first tried to get them out yourself with a green scrubbie? Then you could seal it yourself- though sealing does NOT prevent etching. Only staining.

Hi all - I was looking around for someone to repair some etching on our marble countertops in our kitchen and then seal them. The counters are not very big - about 6 ft long each. We were quoted $300 for this - does that seem right?
