Subject: so was it the right call?
For us, yes. Ten minutes extra for walking. Two kids absent in each of my kids' classes. More than the usual number of substitutes but most teachers were there. Kids were happy to be back inschool,=.
That said, wouldn't be surprised if opening is delayed tomorrow.

My daycare follows DCPS closings and I am very grateful it opened. Easy to get in.

Depends. I have friends in two different DC schools. They said it was great because none of the students were there. One had a total of 8 kids all day. The other is not in the classroom and wondered why they even bothered opening. Few kids attended. So from their adult aspect, it was GREAT! From an instructional standpoint it was a waste of time. A few kids had a tough time getting to school and were late because of public transportation. Others left once they realized they didn't have to be there.

No - total shit show getting in, especially since Metrobus wasn't running normal routes. And most kids/teachers weren't in.

Absolutely yes. My 1st grader and I had to take metro instead of the bus - and there was a 20 minute walk on either side - but it really underlined that school was important and its worth taking the extra effort to show up.

YES. Definitely. The flexibility was a good choice.

I vote yes. Our commute and drop off took about 2 minutes more than normal.
About 5 minutes extra in my case, but yes, definitely. School went fine, and the kids seemed happy to be back.

I vote 2 hour delay. Walking to school was treacherous and will.probably be worse tomorrow.
