Reading comprehension is usually worked on with speech language pathologists.

Oak wood has a summer program too- but the location might not work for you.

This. They can diagnose dyslexia at this age.

We did Lab summer camp, DS enjoyed it but if you're looking to make real gains in reading, I think your money is better spent on having a private O-G trained tutor work with your child as often as financially possible. Our tutor through ASDEC has been amazing; next summer our DS will be in a regular camp in the morning, and then work with his tutor for an hour every weekday afternoon.

We used a Wilson trained tutor from Partners in Learning , partnersinlearningllc.com, 3x a week throughout summer and it was very helpful.

We used Educational Connections (http://ectutoring.com/) and specifically requested a Wilson-trained tutor. She has been coming since May 3x / week to our house and has made amazing progress with DS. He advanced 6 DRA levels over the summer (grading scales may be off, but definite progress in any case). You have an opportunity to chat by phone with the tutor before they are assigned -- make sure you do this. We didn't have a great fit with the first tutor and although she was Wilson-trained, DS would have been her first to actually do the program with. EC was great at switching out and finding a tutor with lots of Wilson training. Pricey since they are Wilson-trained and come to the house, but I thought a very good service. Good luck!!

We had good luck with three days a week with a private tutor through the summer. I supplemented on the other 4 days. The tutor gave me instructions each week or more frequently.

We found our tutor through our school's reading specialist. It was a nearby ES's reading specialist and she was very expereinced with dyslexia and certified in Wilson Level II (which was what DC used for most of ES) as wel as other programs.

OP here: Thank you. Siena's summer program starts at age 9, but Lab school's takes younger kids. Does anyone have experience with this program? My DD has HFA, ADHD, and Dyslexia. At this point, the reading is our biggest concern. Does anyone have experience with the Lab School summer program, or the ASDEC summer program?

Lab School used to have a list of tutors.

ASDEC also trains tutors, in dyslexia appropriate reading programs.

Also, Siena School in Silver Spring, near Forest Glen metro has a summer school. Our child went to school for a couple of years there and had a wonderful experience with their reading instruction.

Depending on how old your kid is, you may want to try Siena School for summer camp. Or Lab School in DC; they have a shuttle service.

DD was diagnosed with reading disability over the summer and is not making much progress despite reading intervention in MCPS. Where do we find a O-G trained tutor? I have heard there is a program in Potomac that has tutors and a summer program. Anyone know what it is, or where we can find a good tutor?
