I've been noticing that drinking a glass or two of red wine makes for a horrible nights sleep....awake throughout the night and in a weird sleepy awake state.

I'm the same way. I used to love wine, now it makes me sick. I'm in my early 30s and even a small amount always makes me feel super sleepy and foggy.

This is a good idea.

Not Asian, and this has been happening for a while, but I don't remember it always being this way. I've tried organic and sulfate-free and the same thing happens. I'll have to try white and see if that helps (or join PP in a 'Drybruary'!).

I am older than you but was having same issue with red wine and bourbon. White wine is easier to tolerate, but it is really a disturber of sleep and depressant. I have been doing "Dryuary" and feel great mentally and physically. It has been tough snowed in with the kids, but I am starting to realize alcohol does not sit well with me and not worth the effects. A month without it has been eye opening!

Serious question: Are you Asian? If so, you might be experiencing the so-called Asian Flush (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_flush_reaction). My SIL is Chinese and cannot tolerate wine because of this.

Personally, I can handle white wine without any problems but red wine gives me migraines. I suspect it's got something to do with the sulfates but I don't know. Even the smell of it bothers me.

Organic wine - but less of it.

I rarely drink wine, but I find that inexpensive wines have this effect on me, perhaps because of additives. Try a more expensive foreign wine and see if it has the same effect.

I take frequent business trips to Europe and going out for dinner with wine is a part of the deal. I rarely have this effect with those wines nor with champagne or prosecco.

My mom had a sulfite allergy and wine did that to her.

You could seek out edible pot instead.

You're allergic and your lover can't process the tannins. Sorry.

yes I feel that way too. I love my red wine, but I'm getting that groggy feeling in the morning lately. I think it's because I turned 40. So I leave it for the weekend when I can sleep in a bit.

It appears your body would like you to not drink. Accept it and find another evening vice.

I love to have a glass or two of wine a few nights a week. Almost always just one glass. However, when I do this feel hung over in the morning. I see lots of people posting on here about their nightly glass of wine. Am I alone in this? I'm in my early 30's. Am I just getting old, or is there some medical reason why this would happen? Is there any workaround here? I drink tons of water and drink with dinner. It might take me two hours to drink the glass.
