I'm in that situation. I'm a lawyer. I work in a field that I think is important, plus also I like the independence of having my own work and my own income (even though it is much smaller than my spouse's).
Also, I spent 20 years of my life working my butt off for my degrees, so I'm not anxious to just throw all that hard work away.

Dressmaker to the stars. I sew for a hobby and love it; if I could find a way to make really beautiful stuff and make money doing it, I would.

If my DH made $1m+ though, I'd probably cut my working time way back. But I'd still want to do it.

DH is an engineer for the government. It's his dream job and he would never quit.

I teach half-day preschool. LOVE IT. I used to freelance write for sports publications, and that was also very enjoyable. If we won the Powerball, I would probably give up the teaching, though. But I'd still volunteer!

If I didn't have to earn money, I'd probably help out small organizations on a part-time volunteer basis. I think Microlending would be a good use of my time. I'd probably get too bored being "retired" at my young age.

I'm an RN. I don't need to work, but I love it. I have worked in a locked Alzheimers unit, L&D, and now ER. Love what I do. Was fortunate to be able to stay home when DS was a baby/toddler but was also happy to reenter the workforce.

Just for fun, what job/career would you not give up even if your spouse made $1M+ (or you came into an inheritance that allowed you to live comfortably for the reminder of your life)? Maybe you already are in this position? If so, what is your job/career?
