I love my Crate& Barrel Reilly chevron curtains. They block out so much light- I can sleep forever. They come in orange and grey. http://m.crateandbarrel.com/reilly-orange-chevron-curtains/f58845

Each panel should be as wide as the window. And then you hang it high and wide. Floor length of course. They should "kiss" the floor.

After trying a billion places for our bedroom curtains (all the usual mall-ish stores- e.g. C&B/PB/West Elm/Z Gallerie/RH), I finally found them at Target, of all places. Their online selection is bigger/better than in person.

Very hit or miss, but World Market sometimes has fun options as well. Nordstrom also occasionally has interesting options (though sometimes I go to look and it seems they only have kids curtains, so who knows why they carry what they do).

JC Penney
Wayfair
Croscill
Bed Bath and Beyond
Kohls
Overstock

If you put in the size you want, say 100 x 84 which I just ordered, you get many places to look.

I've always just picked out fabric and had them made with seamstresses. Very easy and not so pricey (curtain styles now are plain and not as expensive as the 80s styles were). Etsy is also a great solution. Make sure your curtains are always lined and hung high and wide.

Try etsy.com. Lots of people who sew set up Etsy shops and make curtains to order.

Also check out Martha and Ash. A friend of mine ordered custom curtains from them and they turned out beautifully.

Where can I get nice curtains, either made to order or ready made? We have really high ceilings and I need 12 panels so it's a pretty big order. I want something cheery and maybe a little fun--not anything too traditional looking.
I've looked at smith and noble, country curtains, ikea and pottery barn but nothing is really doing it for me.
