Bomb threats are not a funny prank. And setting up another student makes it worse.

There's other benefit to WL's actions here: It puts other students on notice that they can and will be asked to leave for serious infractions.

For calling in a bomb threat and blaming a Muslim student? Jesus. How about if the authorities hadn't determined it was a hoax, shut down the school and dragged that poor kid into an interrogation room for hours?

High school seniors should know way better.

I wonder where they will graduate from.

Yeah, when you think about it, that is a really, really, big punishment for two seniors. They will have to try to graduate from new high schools and have probably massively screwed up their college plans. I'm not saying the punishment is not deserved, but that prank will probably have some really longterm consequences.

Pranking a bomb threat is not some silly horsing around, particularly when you then target a vulnerable student (via ethnicity) for the blame. It should have long term consequences.

They (and the school) will have to notify colleges about any suspensions and certainly expulsions.

Yep. As they should.

Honestly, if it hadn't been for the Muslim student part, I would agree. As it stands, I'm not going to shed any tears over their fates.

Glad to know you care about the fate of our young, whether or not they do stupid shit.

So, what, better to keep them young, stupid, AND uneducated?

Just pointing out that some other school now has to deal with them.

Well those two boys have learned a lot about poor choices and life-altering consequences this week!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/education/wp/2016/01/15/two-d-c-students-expelled-for-sending-bomb-threat-from-muslim-students-email-account/

Apparently two Washington Latin students sent a prank bomb threat from the email account of a Muslim student. The students who sent the email were identified and expelled.

I liked how Martha Cutts comes off in this article. It seems like she handled things very well.
