34. Single mother by choice. Somewhere between 33 and 34 the light bells in the background became clanging akin to the gong show. What sealed it for me was that I had done what I wanted to in life. I owned a 4bed 3.5 BA SFH inside the beltway. HHI was over $150k. I had gotten a Phd and spent time traveling the world. I had built my community and had been an active volunteer with Girl Scouts and helping in Title 1 schools by reading. I also volunteered in a women's abuse shelter helping kids with homework. One day I took stock of how I was choosing to spend my free time and it seemed to be all spent helping other children.

So I decided to have my own even though there was no man in the picture.

Never. But fate said to hell with what I wanted and I had a little girl. She's wonderful but I don't want any more.

Before marriage. I don't believe that you have to be married in order to have children.

Around 28. had first DD at 29, second DS at 30.

When my nephew was born in my late 20s.

Unfortunately, no man ever asked me to marry him...but I got to motherhood eventually.

I think sometimes if a woman talks about wanting kids really early on in the dating set up, its off putting because it may seem the kids are more important than developing a relationship with a guy. Not saying this was the case with you, just that sometimes that can be the assumption on their part and that's what scares them off.

Never. I had a child because DH really really wanted one.

When I met the right guy. I never had that urge until I was madly in love with the right guy. I was 34 when I got married. First kid at 35
