Ian, Ryan, Rowan, Colm, Eamon are all good Irish/Welsh/Scottish names. I like Dylan too, Quinn is okay but it makes me think of a waspy girl (or Daria's sister) more than anything else. Please don't name your son Wynn.

Maybe Rylan?

OP here. Wynn is a family name and primary reason we are considering it.

(I'm sitting in a long work strategic planning meeting right now and so happy to have this thread to read right now.)

I'd use Wynn if it is a family name, but otherwise not.

Since your girls have Irish names, I would stick to Irish and not do Welsh or English, so Dylan and Graham are out. And just because some people are naming girls Ryan and Quinn doesn't mean they are unisex names - they are firmly boys names that are sometimes given to girls. Still boys names. Personally, I'm also not crazy for last names as first names, so that would nix Ryan and Wynn.

That said, I'd go for:

Owen (Eoghan)
Eamonn
Finn
Hugh
Quinn
Gavin
Sean

OP again, Finn or Finlay and Colin are my two favorites but have been vetoed by my husband. Dylan then becomes the shared preference after that one. Thanks for the thoughts so far.

I like Graham but did find out that a lot of people see it as kind of a wimpy name, if you care about that. I do think Quinn is being taken over by the girls these days. Wynn doesn't really strike me as a first name. What about Finn?

I dislike Wynn and Graham. I like Dylan and Quinn is ok. Ryan, Owen, Ian all good too.

OP, here. Ryan IS on our list as well - you are reading my naming style well But, I'm all of a sudden realizing most of these names are traditionally boy names but becoming girls names. Our older girls have very feminine names so I wonder if it would fit to have a unisex name for a boy.

I love Wynn and am considering it for similar reasons. Unfortunately we know a girl from our hometown with the same name (and same last name!) but is no relation. We haven't ruled it out, yet....

I know far more Quinn's than Dylan's. If you love Dylan, use it. It is my favorite of the ones you listed.

My favorite from your list is Graham, followed by Quinn, although I fear this is becoming very much a girl name.

Dylan is fairly popular, but a solid choice. Wynn I don't like at all.

Some other good names in the British Isles theme:
Eammon (my absolute favorite)
Ewan
Finn
Rowan
Colin
Owen
Gavin
Declan

I know two girls who are named Graham and Quinn.

What about Ryan?

Expecting a baby boy in a few weeks and still don't have a name for him. We are looking for Irish/Scottish/Welsh names to go with two older sisters who have Irish names.

We loved Dylan until we realized how popular it is (about 30th in SSA ranking), Graham is about 200, Quinn 360 for boys but 123 for girls, and Wynn is not in the top 10. We have a number of other names but think we have settled on these as our top four.

I'd love some feedback on the names, especially if you have a kid with one of the names. As one of these might be my child's actual name, please be somewhat gentle (but honest).

Thanks!
