Op, except for the miscarriage you could be me. Conceived my DD via clomid 3 years ago. I want to go for it but my DH is too afraid of twins. We skipped clomid this month and are meeting my gyn together in a few weeks to talk to her. I've moved away from DC and only RE is pretty far away so I've done everything through gyn so far.

Do you have a nurse coordinator you can call to relay a message to your doctor? Also often nurses who work in fertility are quite knowledgeable about medication and how it works. It's worth at least a phone call.

If you aren't comfortable with this plan, maybe talk to your doctor about doing IUI instead.

They're probably giving you progesterone post ovulation to extend your luteal phase? Some doctors give clinic at the same time to "enhance" ovulation. I only took progesterone and ended up pregnant.

How long is your luteal phase?

What do you mean by low egg count? Low AMH/diminished ovarian reserve?

OP here. I seem to have a very short luteal phase and the concern is that my uteran lining is not developing properly/ enough to allow for good implementation. I will be taking Clomid to time my ovulation and ensure for a good egg and then another medication starting later in the month that is supposed to ensure proper development of the lining.

I also had low egg count and my husband's sperm was only okay.

I always think you shouldn't take something unless you feel safe about taking it and all of your questions feel answered.

For me I got pregnant naturally twice and miscarried twice. I then went on 4 rounds of Clomid and didn't get pregnant at all. When I spoke to my OGBYN about multiples (we also have one child) she told us that statistically multiple births have occurred for some, but it's actually quite rare. Those who are prescribed Clomide are having difficultly getting pregnant, therefore they need more eggs released to increase the probability of a viable pregnancy.

If I had to do it all over again I would have gone to a fertility doctor and had a full work up before starting Clomed. In the end we found out our problem had nothing todo with the number of sperm or eggs. I had lots of eggs and sperm. Our tests showed it had to do with quality of both sperm and egg. Clomid can't do anything about that.

What did your fertility work up reveal?

did you share your strong fear of twins with your RE before you guys decided to try clomid? I only ask b/c two RE's didn't want to put me on clomid b/c of the risk of multiples. Not because i was afraid of twins (no children, so would be happy to have them at this age-37) but because of the higher risk pregnancy. But i had a VERY high AFC. if he did your workup, maybe he saw in your AFC and AMH that it is unlikely you will have twins? But if you are unsure you can just wait out this month and ask him. I know thats hard because it feel like every month counts. good luck to you, and i'm sorry for your loss.

Why are you taking it if you were able to conceive naturally?

+1. I had twins through IVF, and get the concern, although it really is small. You need to weigh the increased chance of twins against what you want to do medically and why (i.e., diagnosis). For example, would it be better for you to do IVF so you can have more control over the multiples risk?

I took Clomid and am pregnant from it.

That being said, I don't think you need it. You're obviously ovulating on your own since you got pregnant.

I think if you are this freaked out, I wouldn't take it. Call your doc, say you need to push it off for a month. Honestly.

If you are monitored clomid should not raise your chances of twins drastically. It does raise your risk, from very very small to just very small.

You can also always abstain if you think there are too many follicles.

Why are you taking it if you were able to conceive naturally?

If they are monitoring you properly, you shouldn't have too much of a multiples risk.

But if you're this freaked out, maybe waiting a month is a good idea. Maybe you should talk to your doctor to get a better sense of the process.

I had a fertility work up in the fall after failing conceiving for about 9 months. I was due to start Clomid on Day 3 of my cycle, but Day 3 never came, as I finally got pregnant on my own. Well, I miscarried, and I have passed two cycles since marrying.

I called the RE to see what the next step is, and he said I could start Clomid today (day 5), if I wanted to. I went in, had the blood test and sonogram, and BOOM, I am here with my Clomid prescription ready to start tonight. My husband was a little uncertain and I also feel weirdly rushed, and now I am freaking out.

Should I have waited another month and tried naturally? I am fighting off a cold, would it be better to wait until I am felling healthy (RE was not concerned). Mostly, terribly, I am absolutely 100% TERRIFIED of having twins. We have one child already, and I think TWINS would ruin us emotionally, financially, and me, physically. I am wondering if i should NOT take the Clomid tonight and sit on this for another month, but really, I know I want a kid and it has now been a year since we started trying.

Help talk me down from the twin fear.
