Some TV's have a built in antenna that allow you to get over the air channels (which is what the local channels are). I am able to get them on my TV.

OP here -- Oh no! That's no good! I'm a fan of the walking dead, so this will not do! Maybe we'll try antenna and do a free trial of sling to see how it works at our house. I'd love to hear from others that have tried sling about their experiences....

We like Sling because we can watch the Walking Dead when it's on, but I also use it for on demand HGTV and we occasionally watch games on ESPN. There is plenty for your kids on Hulu and Netflix - they'll get used to it. Mine have no recollection of how they used to watch TV.
OP here. My kids are 13 & 15. Trust me, they have already made a major stink about this. There are a few shows that they really care about (Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe are the most important) and I not all platforms have them, so that's a major factor in what we decide to do. Not that the kids rule my world, but they only get to watch TV on Friday-Sunday, so I really feel like a mean mom if I don't at least take their wishes into consideration.
We haven't tried a digital antenna in our current house - it didn't work well in the last house. I keep meaning to do that. I think we need to try.
Mine are 8, 6 and 2 and we haven't had cable in about a year and a half so they don't miss it.Anonymous wrote:We have a digital antenna for local channels (can't miss the Bachelor live!), Hulu, Netflix, and Sling.
