There are vegetables as sides. Why must they be IN the noodles?

Well, to say NO nutritional value is going a bit far. There's carbs and fat, which kids need. But still... ew. At least put on some tomato sauce.

They have their whole lives to branch out. As long as they are healthy, why do you care?

I've heard people say that when an adult eats buttered noodles, but not for kids. I think some people think eating plainer stuff means you have an unrefined palate, but hey - they're kids! But yeah, acting like cacio e pepe pasta is the same thing as hot dogs slathered in ketchup is fucking stupid.

Tell this to entire cultures that use noodles as a regular part of their diet. Depending on the type of good ol' regular noodles, you might have more than 11g of protein as well as an array of other nutrients.

Most "whole wheat" noodles aren't really, either, so don't get too stuck on that. You're just paying more for the illusion of healthy because they told you.

There are people on this board that don't let their kids eat grapes because they are sugar bombs.

Anyway, I have no problem with buttered noodles or Mac and cheese-unless you let it become the only thing your kids will eat. What bugs me is the assumption that kids can only eat "kid food."

Because people on here are pretentious assholes. Anything simple and white is bad. My kids love this kind of stuff.

Not a bad choice at all. I ate this all the time growing up and, to put it in the bottom line terms folks here appreciate, I went on to attend an Ivy.

"Served" with green beans. Not, uh, "Serbs". That was awkward, Siri.

So...why are buttered noodles and Mac and cheese so vilified on here? I recently just buttered up some noodles and added some salt and pepper, Serbs with a side of green beans for my young toddler. I melted a slice of provolone in the microwave over some cooked macaroni noodles just to try it out and...yum. (Not sure DS is ready for the melty and stretchy cheese yet, so I need to work on that one). Anyway-I'm thinking there's some grains, fats, dairy, plus the side of veggies...why do people get so up in arms-I've literally read things like "My child has never had buttered noodles". Now, I get chicken nuggets, and the orange Mac and cheese out of a box (that my mom fed me...ha!) and why they do not conform to DCUM standards, and I also get it if there are no vegetables included in the meal. But please enlighten me as to why buttered noodles or noodles with a nice cheese are a bad choice please!
