We did a custom shower floor (cement/membrane/mortar/tile). Hardie board walls with Redgard.

I went with the top rated bathroom contractor on Yelp and was satisfied with their work. DH and I did nothing ourselves other than shop for all the supplies you can see (tub, vanity, toilet, etc.)

NP but the shower pan is cheap looking. Suitable for apartments maybe. Use tiles.
