Kitten is good, eye is better. It was stress. Eye drops cleared it up almost immediately. I changed the food to a grain free food and the gas is gone.

If you just picked out a food, and started feeding it - that's at least partially the explanation for the gas

It's a good idea to establish a connection with a vet anyway so you know who to call for future issues.

When I adopted my cat she had been vaccinated/evaluated, but within days had a respiratory issue that needed medical attention.

Rescue animals should always get an initial checkup when they come home.

Sorry, I meant the evaluation they get when they receive their shots can be minimal. They usually get the full suite of immunizations, it's just the actual evaluation from the vet that can be pretty quick/cursory.

I used to foster for a rescue and the shots/evaluation the puppies and kittens get can be pretty minimal. Also, the kitten could have been exposed to all sorts of things in the days before you brought it home that could make it sick now.

I haven't taken him to the vet, but he came with his shots and an evaluation. He was healthy when I bought him and was not with other cats.

Definitely take him to the vet.

Has he had a general checkup there already?

New 3 month old kitten has googy eyes. Adopted him from Petco on the 31st. He's had hard eye boogers but this morning his eye was goopy. Is this normal or should I take him to the vet? He also has ferocious gas, which looks like it could be 20 different things ranging from it being his food to a parasite.

Does anyone have experience with a goopy, stinky kitten?
