I'm not a hater, but AAP could still be cut. This is a proposed budget that asks for an increase. We will likely not be given this amount. Cuts will have to be made when the actual budget is determined.

Garza stated the most important issues are class size and teacher compensation. It appears the cuts will be to something other than these areas. The release mentions the budget task force recommendations if cuts are needed. In both the 50 and 75 million scenario, eliminating transportation to AAP centers was proposed. We will have to wait to see what the school board decides with the budget.

This is called not understanding the process and/or counting chickens before the hatch.

Unless the county can come up with an additional $67 million to give to the school system, the school board will have to curtail Garza’s spending plan or begin to look for cuts themselves. Nothing, is certain re AAP centers or busing to said centers.

The only democratic school board member got voted out in the last election was publicly against AAP center. And he got replaced by a member who is a strong supporter for AAP center and TJ.

Having a strong AAP program is good for your property value, quality of living, and good preparation for your kids in case you want to go private in high school.

these aren't the cuts, she asking for more money than last year, actually 150 million budget deficit, but the budget cuts will come later.

I don't see anything cut??? I see a reduction in elementary school class sizes and an increase in employee compensation (to begin lessening the salary gap between our county and the counties around us). This is an overview, I can't seem to find the actual budget.
