Don't want to sound mean but if this is the type of school your son needs, you probably will not find a mainstream private school that will accept him and that includes Field and St. Andrews. Not pp, but our neuropsych also recommended these schools for our kid with Asperger's who only needs small class size.

Has your son had a neuropsych eval? That will be the best way to find out whether a SN school or a mainstream private will work.

No mainstream private school is going to have that sort of arrangement (e.g. SN supports and self-contained classrooms).

Are you looking for SN schools or mainstream privates?

For SN schools, the two main schools for aspergers are Auburn (high school is in Herndon/Reston) and model asperger's program (part of ivymount). There might be others farther out in the suburbs, but I'm not familiar with the farther out schools.

Mainstream schools that have been recommended for my AS/HFA kid are Field and St. Andrews. I don't know if they are equipped to deal with oppositional behaviors. I've also heard good things about Emerson and Parkmont.

Hello. DS has Aspergers diagnosis with some oppositionality. Very bright, athletic, needs support socially, managing frustration, and navigating workload. We are currently in MCPS but want to explore privates for high school. Can anyone recommend private high schools that might work for my DS?
