I think it also depends on the make up of the class into which your child would be entering.

Large class? Rowdy kids? Teacher expecting? Lots of girls and not so many boys (or the opposite)? Are there other applications pending?

If you have a check book, and a child, the chances are you can get a spot in most places.

Sure, lots do if they have space. My kid got a new classmate today. Just start calling around.

I think most schools will if there is a space and they are convinced your child will be a good fit with the school and the current class.

Catholic schools often do if there is space.

Most small private will if they have openings. My son just got a new table mate today. She shadowed later last year and started this week.

Our Montessori will. Since each child learns at their own pace, it's not a big deal. Perhaps an option for you.

Brookewood and Avalon . They also have a lot of former homeschoolers

Another vote for these two schools. My DD's class got a transfer mid year when she was in 2nd grade.

Great question. I suggest doing what we did and ask an expert. If you go to dc school HUB's website there's a tab on the front page. It costs something like 20 bucks and you get a great report based on what kind of school might work best for your kiddo.

Good luck!

Yes, there are schools that will do this (ours does), so figure out which ones you're interested in and start calling on Monday.

What age?

Many will but will have no FA if that is an issue.

I would just start looking at your local privates... What general area are you looking?
