Wow! I really can't believe you called you daughter a Jesus freak. I don't blame her for looking elsewhere for love and acceptance.

Maybe you need counseling lady. Your daughter is just fine, she just has an asshole mom to deal with.

I know it's not a popular lifestyle or viewpoint in the DMV, but the devout Christians ("Jesus freaks") I've known have been mostly great people. Principled, humble, accepting (for the most part), generous, and positive.

I guess I don't see the problem.

Maybe she can put in a good word for you with the Father!

I would be worried because of her general obsessive personality, not because of this particular facet of it - as facets go, this one is not dangerous or illegal!

Do you also think there is some Asperger's going on? People with high-functioning autism or Asperger's have obsessive interests, too. Ask me how I know.

It's good she realizes her current religiosity could be linked to her obsessive personality. A full neuropsychological evaluation might be in order, because you want to get a full picture, OP, to be able to treat it. Call Stixrud, they are very reputable and thorough.

It sounds like she's in a searching phase and reading the bible can be comforting and assuring. I wouldn't worry about it, in time the fire will die down. She'll be fine.

My friend's daughter suffers from OCD and she's hyper religious and hard on herself. Her parents are not overly religious either.

There's a connection between the two.

Is she manic?

My aunt. But she tends to be obsessive about everything. Food. Dieting. Germs. Jesus.

Is your daughter generally obsessive OP?

Might want to start shopping for a mother of the bride dress soon. JFs tend to get married quickly.

Sounds j like she is fine. Do you discuss this part of her life with her?

A few...they usually rebel in some blatant way, then run back to the fold.

Yup - not sure she will change. Know tons of JF's who started out in HS and college.

I went through a Jesus phase in high school, although it sounds like I wasn't quite as serious about it as your daughter. I went to a liberal college and it gradually stopped there. Now I am an agnostic adult.

All the Jesus freaks I know are reformed drug addicts trying to help others. Good decent people, ask for nothing in return.

I just started watching the show Rich in Faith. Your daughter sounds like them.

Hey, would you rather her be the opposite and be trouble all the time ? Maybe she has a calling.
