Subject: Montgomery County, MD school nurses?
Our kids have been in several schools. In general, I've had mixed results with Med Techs in elementary. Some have been good, others not.
And the county, can and does change out nursing staff randomly.

Meant to say the degree was not a help at all.

That's the same at our elementary but the med tech at our school is truly EXCELLENT. Ours has decades of experience with general medicine as well as special needs.
One time she was out on vacation and the school nurse was there and we did not have a good experience with the nurse. She was nice but had very little knowledge and I was very surprised about this. In this case the degree help at all.

OP here. Rather not reveal too much to out myself! My child is rising K. Not needing the level of care at Stephen Knolls; however, but not comfortable with a med tech providing all necessary care.
I understand at my elementary the nurse rotates between several schools and is at the school a few TIMES a week. The bulk of care is provided by med techs.

Stephen Knolls, which has a PEP program in addition to medically fragile elementary kids, has an RN on site full time. She manages IVs, feeding tubes, oxygen.
What are your needs and how old is your child?

Yes, I think it may depend on the size of the school and whether they have special needs programs? We toured a couple of schools that have mentioned this as a positive point about their school.

No, I think there is an RN who oversees several ESes.

Excluding the school based health center programs, do any of the Montgomery County, MD elementary schools have full-time RNs? I am referring to actual nurses, not med techs or CNAs. Thanks
