Reviving this thread: we got the worst grooming job at Petsmart bethesda. Ugh. Any suggestions of a good place to take our puppy in the future in silver spring, kensington, bethesda chevy chase or rockville area. Thx!

We got a doodle because we have allergies and a small house so wanted a medium sized dogs. We love our puppy. The pros: she potty trained very quickly and is very easy going. She isn't crazy full of energy but she's playful. Cons: she's a tad stand-offish (we think it is the 75% poodle). She's loving, but on her terms - she's not a slobbery love you all the time dog. She wants her space (TBD if that will change after puppyhood and she gets bigger). She's also pretty picky about her food and sensitive. The grooming is no small thing, either, doodles need to be brushed so they don't get matted, and it's very hard to get a puppy to let you brush her so we don't do a perfect job of it. Before we had her, we thought "no big deal, we'll brush her every couple days" but we take the brush out and she goes running!

We've been taking our Goldendoodle to Petsmart in Rockville for years. I find they do a pretty decent job at a fair price. The key is letting them know what you want, such as no shaving or poodle-y-cutting. I think as more people have the Doodle hybrids groomers have gotten better at knowing how to make them look good.

Where do you live? We take our doodle to Clever Dog in Silver Spring but that might not be convenient for you.

It's probably time to get our five month old goldendoodle groomed (her fur is starting to cover her eyes and she is very shaggy). Any recommendations for someone who specializes? I want to keep her fluffy and not get a poodle cut or generic shave.
