I have a paper calendar to keep me on track. This week is a weird one - I could see forgetting something like that.

For your niece, I think this is easy to make it up to her. An outing to the movies, a restaurant, and/or a toy store and all will be forgiven.

Exactly! Everything goes on my calendar or I will not be there! Forgive yourself op but take precautions to be better.

OP, you have to let this go! In the big scheme of things it's REALLY not a big deal. I have no doubt you are an awesome auntie. If you haven't already, plan a time to bring over the gift, pick up some cupcakes, and have a nice visit with your sister while the kids play. These things happen, you spared her feelings, it's unlikely you will forget a b-day again.

Agree. I'd never remember anything if I didn't have a calendar chime. I set it to remind me two hours ahead, or 24 if it's something really out of the ordinary that I know I'll forget and shouldn't.

UGH! That's so sad. But nothing you can do now except promise yourself to do better. Bummer!

If it makes you feel better I forgot to FaceTime a family member I'd set the time up with yesterday. This is someone I never talk to and it was a big deal. Totally forgot. But was vaguely honest about it because I didn't see a way out!

Just out of curiosity, what did you tell your sister? At what point did you remember?

Just bring or send a gift and then move on.

Just apologize sincerely and offer to take niece out for a special auntie/niece ice cream date.
