Historically they have picked someone who can pull in a swing state or two. It's not any better than picking someone who can pull in a demographic.

I think she will surprise us and, hopefully, pick someone smart, qualified. Perhaps another woman. Or, someone from the old Clinton days. Definitely not Martin O'Malley since no one really likes him.

Julian Castro would be a "wasted" nomination. Like I said, the Hispanic vote is pretty much a lock for the Democrats and Castro is certainly not going to help swing Texas.

It depends. If Rubio is on the ticket, there is value.

Who else are the Hispanics going to vote for? Even Rubio has moved to the right on immigration so other than the fact that he is a Hispanic, there is little gained in voting for him.

It is no different than AAs who have been pretty much the most reliable constituency for the Democrats no matter how much or how little the Democrats do for them.

O'Malley would actually be a great VP.

why?

One of the areas where he's done exceptionally well in his prior life as governor was in using data and technology for tracking, understanding and problem solving. He would be excellent executive support for implementing initiatives, as well as in working through OMB to get agencies better coordinated on data and technology.

That is a great reason for giving him a cabinet appointment, but a waste for a Vice President.

A WTOP article yesterday said one person showed up at his campaign event and that person is not even a supporter. Give it up already.

Lol, I did see that article. I don't think she will choose him.

Given that Hillary will almost certainly be the nominee, it would be interesting to speculate as to who would be her likely nominee.

Contrary to the speculation about a Hispanic nominee, I'd suggest that she would gain nothing by nominating a Hispanic or AA nominee for the VP slot. The reason is that both these groups are already a lock for the Democrats because they are unlikely to go with the Republicans unless Rubio is the nominee. Both Trump and Cruz have taken a hard line with regard to illegals so neither of them would draw Hispanics.

I would think her best bet would be to select someone who would either bring in one of the swing states that may be up for grabs or someone who blue collar voters can relate to since they are the ones who are presently drawn to Trump. I can't see Hillary attracting the blue collar voters - she would need someone who can relate to them.

The millenials are the other group that need to be sold on Hillary. They are unlikely to vote for a Republican but unless they are excited about the ticket, they may just choose to sit it out.
