Post 12/28/2015 12:00     Subject: Pack n Play, Bassinet or Co-sleeper?

We used a cosleeper with both kids and for breastfeeding, semi-cosleeping, it's great and it doesn't take up much floor space so if your bedroom is small, it's a great option.

Pack n Play I've used on travel - it's bulky, so you don't want to leave it open when not in use, but it's not a a quick set up & take down so it's a hassle to open & close if you're only using it sporadically. It's fine if you're dedicated to never cosleeping though, as it is truly entirely separate, kind of like having a crib in a your room.

That said, if I wasn't looking for a cosleeper, I'd just put a minicrib in my room. I'd only consider a bassinet if it had a rocking feature - because otherwise, again, I see no point in owning one that doesn't give greater access than a crib.

Cosleeper. We got one 48 hours after we got home from the hospital. Three month old is still in it.

I had a PNP for #1 and kind of hated it. He grew fast and was too heavy for the bassinet part really early on (15#) and getting him out of the lower part was really hard. It was also really low compared to our moderately tall bed.

I got a Halo Bassinest for #2. I haven't used it for anything but storage yet, but I am hoping we'll like it. The co-sleeper makes me a little bit nervous because I had a lot of anxiety about rolling over on baby in the early months with #1, and that made it hard for me to sleep. Having a completely separate surface but where I can still bring baby really close to check on him sounded really appealing.

Who knows how it will work in reality, though?

We used a swing or just held baby for naps for the first few months.

We have a halo bassinet and it's wonderful. It vibrates, and plays music/ white noise.
We're two months now, but expect to go to three with it and then transition to the crib.
During the day we nap in the rock n play.

I second the Rock n Play. We had a bassinet - used it once for twenty minutes. Loved the Rock n Play.

We had a PnP - he was not a big fan. We moved him to the crib around 3 - 4 months. We also co-slept at times (without a co-sleeper)

We used the PnP, and then moved baby to crib at 6 weeks. We did this twice.

We have a bassinet as part of our stroller system, and got a mini crib (the Bloom Alma) and a rock n play as a hand-me-down borrows. Plan is to see which the baby likes best. Can you borrow any of these from a friend so that you don't have to commit until you know what the baby likes? For every baby that you meet that likes a rock n play you'll find one that hates it. And vice versa with the co-sleeper.

I got the pack'n'play. It's more versatile, you'll get more use out of it in the long run.

None of those for baby sleep. Get the rock n play.

Yes, that's the q.

I am getting a co-sleeper for the early months, a crib for the baby's room, and a PNP for downstairs / travel.

I EBF so I really like the co-sleeper. Mine converts into a play pen. The bassinet just seemed too small and that it wouldn't lasts past two months; I had a big (23in) baby.
