My kid is a raging psychopath on sugar, so we rarely give it to him. If you were my SIL, I'd slap you back. Harder.

If SIL has a no sugary treat rule for her kids it is fine for her to enforce that and pretty crummy of you to undermine her. Maybe her kids act up when they eat too much sugar. Maybe they have weak enamel on their teeth and are cavity prone.

It is fine to offer your own kids sugary treats - even in front of their cousins. And I can't imagine why your SIL think that her opinion matters (it doesn't!) UNLESS your kids turn into holy terrors when they eat sugar and she is a captive audience to it.

I would personally give the kids something like popcorn as a snack and poppers to play with. Something that they could ALL enjoy.

Not sure what the problem is. Not everyone celebrates holidays with sugary treats. I do, but respect not everyone else does. If the celebration is at my home then we'll have our sugary snacks and she can be the bad guy and tell her kids they can't have any. If the celebration is at her house, then stay home. Problem solved.

I think your SIL probably gets a huge kick out of pushing this particular button of yours. I know I would! The more you try to control and undermine her, the more she's going to insist on her way.

Your kids: Stop inviting her over or tell her clearly that your kids are doing just fine, thanks.

Her kids: give them balloons or some other inedible treat.

First, stop yelling.

Second, if they are her kids, you are out of line, but I get your frustration.

Give the kids poppers, or something else unobjectionable. It's very rude to do something you know a family member dislikes. Don't pick a fight with her during the holidays.

I have posted about her on here before.
She objects to giving the kids gum.
She objects to giving the kids candy.
She objects to giving the kids cake.
If she objects to giving the kids ice cream on new years I swear to God am going to slap her.
This will be the last straw in a series of incidents.
I am sick and tired of her.
