Well first off, the film has a lot of misleading inaccuracies, if not outright lies. And second, the vast majority of, if not all the whales at Sea World were born in captivity. They have never lived a day in the wild.

Fine, easy solution: let the moms live out their lives in sanctuary and release the calves once they are old enough. The cycle ends here.

1) OP, no, like you, I can't stand it. Will never go to Sea World now that I know what I know.

2) PP, we do not go to circuses except those with domesticated animals, such as the Big Apple Circus, which only has dogs and horses. And they are big on humane treatment of all the animals under their care. Zoos? We go to zoos but we research them ahead of time. We go to National Zoo but do NOT go to local rinky-dink ones like Reston Zoo (TERRIBLE history there) or other ones like this.

Only 18 years old. In the wild Orcas can live to 45 years and beyond.

They haven't taken animals from the wild in 30 years. They don't separate calves from their mothers. And those screams you heard in that "capture" scene weren't even orca calls.

I can't bring myself to watch the Blackfish documentary, because I know it's going to be awful. But I'm done with Sea World. I can't believe that a corporation is allowed to just go out there and capture whales and profit off of them. And I made the mistake of watching one scene online about how they train the whales to surface for insemination type activities and I was utterly wigged out.
