As others have pointed out, we used ORM and chose a donor who was willing to be contacted. It was a very simple process...you just have to make sure this is expressly written into your contract with the donor...We have been very open with our DC about his origin and I am so happy that he can contact his donor if he wants when he is older (18 or over).

It was very simple doing the donor egg thing remotely. I was able to do everything here (monitoring and post transfer followup). I went to Portland for 2 days for the transfer (arrived Sunday evening, transferred Monday, flew out on Tuesday morning). My husband went out a few days before I did to do his part but was there for an even shorter period. We were never in Portland at the same time.

Unless something has changed in the past couple of years I don't think SG allows this option with their in house donors.

ORM has donors who are and who are not open to contact. You can see the donor's preference before you make a choice.

We used a donor from CFA who was willing to be contacted by the child at age 18.

I believe my friend used Donor Bank USA and she was able to speak to the actual donor - not sure if this is typical! I think you can also see who is willing to be contacted when the child is 18.

Once you gain access to ORM's database you can see which donors are willing to register with [whatever the org is called] so a child may contact them in the future.

I want to use an egg donor who is willing to be contacted by the child at 18. I do not want to use an agency just because of the cost, so I need to find clinics that have “willing to be known” donors in-house. Does anyone know of those? Or know where I can find a list?
