Four robberies foiled in a week.

So what?

Robberies happen once every 1.5 minutes in the US.

By the numbers, concealed carry is hardly even making the tiniest dent.

Meanwhile, a gun death happens once every hour in the US because most gun owners are untrained and irresponsible.

By the numbers, I don't see it as being worth it.

Yes, violence directed toward criminals.

You don't wish a few of the teachers there had been packing concealed firearms?

I wish that the shooter had never been able to get his hands on a gun.

Despite the rantings of many anti-gun folks, this is not the goal.
There are regulations - they should be enforced.
There are places where guns are not allowed. Fine.
And, not everyone should be able to own a gun. Felons? Nope. Illegal immigrants? Nope. Mentally ill? Nope.
So, keep up your sweeping comments. It just make more people want to arm themselves.

What regulations that "should be enforced" keep the mentally ill from buying guns? Be specific, please.

Why are there no regulations against felons and illegal immigrants buying guns at gun shows and through private sales?

There are federal regulations that not only bar felons from buying guns they also bar felons from even possessing guns. Anyone who knowingly even gives a gun to a convicted felon is committing a crime. If you have a convicted felon living in your home you can only have a gun if it is locked up with no way for the felon to access it.

Know your facts.

Some sort of new law is needed for mental health screening. The problem is that there is no federal database of people's mental health, nor will there ever be (could you imagine submitting to the Feds for your "mental screening"?). What should probably happen is a requirement that hospitals report abpnyone that has ever been committed in a mental facility or held overnight in a hospital for a psychiatric condition. Anyone on that list should not be able to buy a guy without getting a clean bill of health from a psychiatrist.

I always liked this classic where a 71 year old guy foils the attempted armed robbery at an internet cafe. No way he could have done this without a gun.

Not according to a lot of you:

And, that is hardly “anywhere at all time.” So, Chicago gun owners want to be able to protect themselves when they shop. Hell, I would too if I lived in that city. Crime is rampant.

In response to the guy who posted last week and said that gun owners stopping crimes is "a myth," here are four recent incidents in which good, law-abiding Americans stopped criminals in their tracks: http://crimeresearch.org/2015/12/four-concealed-handgun-permit-holders-use-their-guns-to-stop-violent-crimes-in-the-last-week/
