It should be, though. Nobody, nowhere, nothing, noone.

I think Chaucer used "noone" for "noon"...and that makes more sense than using it for "nobody", etc.

I always figure there are lots of foreigners in DC. And also, iphones aren't the best. They often autocorrect between loose and lose.

Because "loose" is also a word and auto-correct: a) doesn't catch it and b) sometimes auto-completes the wrong word.

It irks me, but I think it has to do with the fact that most people have learned that the /oo/ sound is made with two o’s or combination of letters - like “ough” (through) or “ou” (you). The idea that the word lose can be pronounced as if it had two o’s makes people misspell it.......

All of these things are true for many words that people learn to spell anyway.

I always assume it's people for whom English is not their first language...

Because we're posting in English, which is a non-phonetic language with ridiculous spelling.

I am not defending that particularly egregious example of bad spelling, but I have found as I age, I make more and more mistakes (and I'm only in my 30s!). I am a former elementary spelling bee champ and spelling always came naturally to me. So, I try to be sympathetic to the other distracted and decaying once smart people

because we can't all be perfect at everything and for some that means they really suck at spelling.
