I'm with DC Village Learning Co-op and would be happy to chat about homeschooling, either with us or elsewhere! Our email is on our website, dcvillage.weebly.com. Feel free to email and we can chat more.

For the person looking for our size, we currently have 7 kids, with space for 12.

Thanks!

Just read through that site. It looks really great. I couldnt find info though on how many kids attend. It seems like a nice mix of expeditiary, montessori and waldorf. Honestly, if there is enough support from families, they really ought to think about actually becoming a charter school. In the younger years I think the most important development for a kid is a love of learning. I will definitely keep up with DC Village, my DD is too young now but its looks like an intresting opportunity.

11:47 here: I pulled DH out for a year in 4th grade so that he could be ready for a middle school at a highly regarded charter. I found many different homeschoolers who were secular at US Botanic Gardens Seedlings classes (ages 6-10) and Sprouts (ages 3-5) and home school days at US Navy Museum, Building Museum and Tudor Place Homeschool History Days!
Good luck!
here's one link but there are many:

I am interested in homeschooling opportunities as well OP. Progressive based, focused on writing (not memorization), in short actually teaching my kid to love learning and developing curiosity. Our options in DCPS are limited based on where we live.

Most homeschoolers are religious.

Not all! There are many secular homeschoolers.

Homeschoolers are not good at self-promotion. I've looked and found that same MySpace era web page.

Not happy with public school class size or construction plans for next year. I am an experienced teacher and am thinking of homeschooling next year. Anyone interested in a coop for grades 2-3? Not long term but for a year and want my kid to have a peer group.
