Desperate Romantics! It is about the Victorian era group of radical, bohemian painter-poets, headed by the selfish and gorgeous Dante Gabriel Rossetti, who has lured Lizzie Siddal (who has that famous red hair the real Pre-Raphs loved to paint over and over) to sit for the painters. Lizzie is, of course, in love with selfish Gabriel. Effie Ruskin is also featured (she's the one whose marriage to John Ruskin was never consummated because he--according to legend--was freaked out that a real naked woman didn't look like the classical Greek statues). SUCH a good series.

Totally agree but it's definitely not light. I'm also binging The Leftovers right now and it's amazing...but also the opposite of light.

The Wire is completely addictive. Just prepare the N-word a lot.

If you haven't seen the Sopranos, that is a must watch.

I loved Pretty Little Liars and Revenge for a short while but then couldn't handle the endless story.

If you want light, try Alpha House on Amazon Prime. It's not girly though. Funny as hell. Kind of like a guy's version of "Veep" on Showtime.

Original Arrested Development if you haven't seen it.

If you liked House of Cards, there is the original British version on Netflix and I thought it was great.

Once upon a time and vampire diaries are very light. If you like OITNB, what about Wentworth? It's an Australian women's prison show. Call the Midwife is my favorite.

I just watched Sens8 and loved it. First episode was hard and confusing, but after it was awesome.

Not much light and girly on Netflix unless you go into the kids section.

Detectorists is hilarious, a uk series by a uk actor from the uk The Office.

Barbara is a good German movie about former East Germany

The Fall is a gripping dark pschological police crime thriller.
