Good. Send your kid there. A police officer is one thing. As for the "many of those that carry in TX"? Nah, not taking that kind of risk with my kid. That's crazy talk.

Perhaps. Though the police officer was trained in dealing with such situations, which I doubt many (most?) of the folks with handgun licensees are. A point made by the ex-SEAL UT Chancellor who was opposed to the bill but now is responsible for figuring out how to implement it because it is the law:

I am literally terrified of a shoot out. Instead of 4 people dying, it will 20 because of untrained people and cross fire.

I don't know why you feel so safe in Dallas. This law applies to all Texas public 4 year universities.

Yes. A lot of the faculty, administration, and students are really not happy about this decision, but essentially since it is a public university, they have to comply.

Exactly. No mass killers coming there. Why would they?

It seems unfair to lambast UT for this decision. They are a public university. The state senate passed a law allowing for open carry and the university as a public institution is essentially forced to comply.

Conservatives on this forum have started threads asking for the names of colleges and universities that aren't liberal. It looks like one of these gun schools might be good for them.

I would never want to teach there, or allow my children to attend school there.
