They don't charge extra for the bedbugs though!

We like to go for two nights. We'd feel rushed if we only did one night. Plus, there's usually a long line for check-in which eats up a lot of time.

Google GWL Williamsburg and bedbugs. *shudder*

I think one night is plenty! Go early and then leave in the morning. Your sanity can only handle one night. We've been at least 3 times. Once for a birthday party.

For us one night was plenty because you can essentially get two days at the water park. We headed down early in the morning so that we were there by 1 when you can start using the facilities (even though our room wasn't ready). We played all that day and all the next, and headed home about 7 at night (so the kids slept most of the way)
We loved it, but wouldn't have needed or wanted a third day.

I'd do two nights, and look for deals. Know that you'll spend money on unanticipated stuff like Magic Quest, but for our family it is worth it because the inclusive nature of the resort lets us give the kids freedom to roam the water park or even the hotel.

We have been to GWL once and have another trip planned in a couple of weeks. It is worth the drive and the money, at least for us. Our kids range from 4 to 13 and they all enjoy it. It is over the top for kids and nothing really compares. It is not a terrible drive and if you spend a few hours letting the kids play in the water park before driving home they will be exhausted and may even sleep.

Yeah but GWL is better for that reason - it's included in the price of the room - you can and go back to your room, go back and forth - get time after dinner, etc. My kids absolutely love GWL and even though it's expensive, we have gone twice - both times were really fun and worth the 3 hour drive there - especially if you time it right when you are allowed to start using the water park on the check in day.

Yes, and it's nice that it's not bundled. That way you can just go for the day or stay somewhere cheap in Harrisonburg, or rent a ski chalet in Massanutten if you want. I like that there are lots of lodging options, and you aren't spending $400-500/night for lodging and the water park like at GWL.

Massanutten resort has an indoor water park that can be accessed for the day if you don't want to spend the night
