Same here, OP, same here. I actually posted this on a Trump thread in politics a week or so back and got attacked as a harpy and terrible spouse and who knows what else. Saying you can tolerate political differences in a marriage is one thing. But this strikes at fundamental, core values. This guy is essentially Hitleresque. I actually don't see ANY redeeming value he has, period.

What's worse is that my husband is so vehement about him primarily for two reasons -- one, he admires his "strength" and "anti-PC" stances, and two, he hates Hillary Clinton in an irrational and really toxic way that exposes some misogyny he has that I never detected before we were married. I mean, I can't stand Hillary Clinton much, either, but I'm not enough of a nihilist about the differences between corporatist Democrats and corporatist Republicans to really think she's no better than them.

The irony is that he'd vote for Bernie Sanders if he was the nominee. He just hates Hillary.

I am dreading the next year. I honestly don't know if our marriage will survive.

OP here. I'm definitely not trolling, and I'm not actually very liberal or political. I really thought that all rational humans could agree that he could NEVER be president and that this little fad he's having is a reaction to other things instead of agreement with his insanity.

I try to avoid the topic, since I'm not into politics, but Fox news is on every morning and evening, and DH will bring it up on his own.

Democrats have moved further and further RIGHT. I'm sorry for your awful situation.

Mine too. I was dumbfounded when I made the statement at dinner with his friends (all republican, I'm democrat), thinking well, hell, I'll find common ground, "At least we can all agree that Trump is a total moron." I was very proud of myself for thinking of a way to have conversation with a table full of republicans.

Until they all disagreed vehemently with me.

I just drank wine the rest of the night.

I have no answers, but lots of sympathy. I've just discovered that I have a close family member who supports Trump. I'm dreading the holidays.

Can you go to counseling? Can he? I'm converned about his mental well-being.

That pretty much says it all. How do I even deal? He has gotten more and more conservative as the dems have moved further and further left, but this is just beyond the pale. I dread talking to him.
