Was there NEVER a fight at your middle school? I went to public school in the whitest of white towns in the whitest part of the United States. Yes, there were occasional fights. This isn't about "diversity." It's about the toxic stew of hormones and aggression that characterizes middle school.


+1 I saw numerous, bloody fights during my years in middle school, in an area that was 2/3 white; that was in the 1970's! This is not a diversity issue.

This is the most disturbing part of the post. Really? Your middle school aged child is afraid to go to school because other kids got into a fight?


Not the OP, but WTF? My kid is 10 and would definitely find this scary. Kudos to you that you're raising a kid who's not afraid of other kids fighting? Is that what you want to hear? It's not abnormal for a kid (or an adult) to find it scary that there was a fight at school.

Yes She is 11. Everybody is different. Some people read any post and try to be constructive while some others try to be jerks. And there are people
like you!

My DD came home with a clump of the hair as a souvenir. She says this kind of stuff happens all the time, no big deal.

Didn't hear anything from 7th-grade DS. Usually the principal is very good about communicating about incident so I would expect an email today about it.

Didnt hear it. My child has been there more than a year so he got used to it. There was pots in school last year. Welcome to diversity and the real world. Tell your child to stay away from the kids who make her feel unsafe. It is hard in a new school but she needs to learn and find her peers quickly.
