This is your average break and enter crime of opportunity. The other one was some bizarro ninja style attack except all the attackers were James Bond villains who were easily thwarted by a mom in a SUV.

As I recall, the number of people on that thread who said, "The reason I don't believe that the Georgetown Attack happened is that there has never been, nor will there ever be, an incident in Georgetown where somebody smashed a car window and stole a purse." was: zero.

After mulling over it all a bit, I did a little research RE the earlier incident, and I was quite surprised to learn that there was a thread on this board in which some people suggested that the incident never occurred b/c they found it quite unbelievable that it could occur w/all the people coming and going in Georgetown. Well, I wanted to pass on the message that this sort of stuff DOES occur in Georgetown. In fact, to the non-believers, I suggest you do some research about a gang of teenagers that stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise--in what was described as a "flash mob"--last year from the True Religion store on M Street.

Not comparable incidents at all except both were in Georgetown and involved vehicles - smash and grabs from cars happen in DC all the time even in busy areas - the telling of the previous incident had a lot of unusual elements to it that raised suspicions.
