Driving, possibly, although I'd consider flying since it would take little time and we'd have our 2 month shots and be out of flu season. We do have some family in Georgia we need to see. I have never been anywhere but Atlanta, though. Florida I've only been to South Florida on the Atlantic side, which I didn't love.

In early May the water won't be warmer until Ga or more likely Florida, are you up to driving that far?

Aside from visiting family, which isn't particularly relaxing albeit inexpensive, what are some good destinations for traveling with two this age? 3 YO now naps only sporadically, so we can plan to do a bit more during the day (assuming the baby will sleep on the go OK), but the 3 MO will obviously still be in a phase where you're basically pushing him in a stroller or wearing him. I'd like to take our family vacation before my "maternity" leave is over because I will be fresh out of vacation when I return to work (will actually owe some back). DH is going to be starting "paternity" leave when I come back to work, so I'm thinking we'll just overlap a week in the middle and go somewhere fun and relaxing (as relaxing as it can be with a 3 MO). Preferably somewhere with an extra room or space for the baby and preschooler to sleep and the parents to stay up (so can be a suite with a living area, 2 bedrooms, house, condo, etc.).

We could drive or fly somewhere not terribly inexpensive. Money will be tighter this year since I will have to use some leave without pay, but we should be able to do a couple thousand ($2-3k) on this trip not including meals. I don't really want to spend much more than that because if memory serves, 3 MO's aren't as portable and easy-going as a little bit older or younger, so I don't want to "waste" vacation dollars on a trip we won't be able to make the most of.

I considered OBX (Duck, most likely) since it's before summer and would be cheaper, but I'm afraid that the weather wouldn't be enjoyable for swimming and beachgoing. I also would like to have more options for dining that don't involve packing everyone up and driving somewhere or me cooking every meal like I already do. Would somewhere farther south be nicer this time of year? South Carolina? Or go somewhere north and outdoorsy?

Looking like it would probably be early May depending on when DS is born. If we can't think of anything super appealing, I'll just save my leave and we'll go somewhere in the fall after school starts back up.
