Yes. this is us. We're doing okay. There are good days and not so good days. Thanksgiving was good for the most part his gf stayed with her family and he had Thanksgiving with us without much incident. He really hit it off with my Grandpa who is the rough around the edges, ex- Marine doesn't really like anyone type.

We're trying to keep spirits up, the little ones are pretty excited so I'm hoping it will rub off on him. We at least want to make it a good Christmas for him on our end as much as possible. Which is why I started this thread because I didn't know where to start.

So a very big THANK YOU to all who made suggestions this helps so much you have no idea! Thanks.

Good ideas up above (though my same-age kid hates Axe products and wouldn't want that -- totally depends on the kid).

Since he likes football, he might like a jersey from his favorite team, especially if your husband knows who some of his favorite players are and you could get a jersey with one of their names. Also, a big gift could be tickets to a football game with your husband (either professional or college game).

If you have a gaming system, definitely get Madden.

If there's a place kids at his high school go at lunch or after school, a gift card to that place makes a nice stocking stuffer (Baskin Robbins, Chipotle, whatever's near). Ditto if there's a place not far from your house.

A couple clothing items mixed in with the fun stuff could be good, if you do that for your kids too - ask your husband if he has a sense of what kind of clothes your nephew likes. Mine likes Under Armour (for hoodies and sports gear) and Old Navy (their flannel shirts and such).

nice guitar picks? an iTunes or Amazon music card (depending how he listens to music) for listening to whatever band or type of guitar music he loves? extra strings for his guitar? maybe google "guitar player gifts" for ideas.

He's not my son he is my nephew, who is living with us, in the past DH and I always sent a card with cash for Christmas and his birthday.
I obviously can't just give him $300 dollars, so I need ideas.
I have also asked him and he doesn't care.

The bigger questions are why don't you know what your son is interested in ? Also why they hell haven't you bought him a gift in 7 years?

The only thing I'm sure he likes is playing guitar. He does occasionally watch football with my husband.
Any and all ideas are welcome, as the last thing I bought him was some soccer stuff when he was 8 or 9.
