Have never bought more than 1 gift for nieces/nephews.

One present, between 15 and 30 dollars (depending on random things like whether I can catch a sale on something they'd like, or if there's something that is just perfect for them). I try to do it all on the big sales around Thanksgiving, so get most of their presents 25 to 50% off.

A seven month old won't know or care. Going forward is fine to just give one thing.

One $20-$30 gift per kid. We have 3 nieces/nephews all in one family. If I spend $90 that's more than I spend on my own kid total.

Of course, they are all under 5, so I can get away with that now....

I go by budget vs number of gifts. This year I spent around 70-80 for my niece and nephew. One has 2 presents, the other has 3 presents. With so many gifts, they don't even notice who got them what or how many presents they got from each person. I say you go with your budget, if the budget buys only one toy, then that's fine. I also have a 7 month old and we got him 1 gift because he's still too young to understand or care.

One gift would have been plenty. We don't do a lot of gifts during the holiday for our kid. He is happy with one thing and we buy throughout the year. Most kids will gravitate toward one gift anyway so buying tons of stuff is far more for the parents than kids.

I give each nephew/niece one gift that the parents say it's ok. I always ask. For anyone younger than 1year, I will give the parents a box of diapers or wipes.

There's always one sibling that does not follow any rules and will get things that are just another piece of toys that is going to gather dust. But, that sibling is so happy to give it that, why bother bursting his happiness.

Definitely all the kids have too much toys. I tend to like gifts that are educational or towards playing with another kid like a board game. A toy that he can play with another child not by himself.

I've generally done 1-2 gifts but this year thinking about tickets to a show they'd like (kids are 10 & 13). My sister is trying to declutter so I think she'd prefer an experience gift over stuff. My brother's baby will get a couple favorite picture books.

Usually 2, one of which is a book. They are now 10-12 and usually it's a book plus a gift card to gamestop.

we don't buy nieces and nephews Christmas presents, through mutual agreement with our siblings. It's pointless. They have tons of stuff; we don't need to buy them more crap.

One modest, thoughtful gift is perfect! Little kids don't need much to make hem happy. Heck, half of the time the box that the toy came in is a bigger hit than the toy itself.

My son received a tiny race car in a fancy box for his birthday. A HUGE hit - way more than the big toy with lots of buttons we got him.

1 gift each is fine! And it doesn't have to be expensive. A thoughtful gift is more important.

But don't worry about your baby, he won't have a clue about chrismyas presents this year, no guilt necessary!

I think one gift per niece/nephew is more than fine. We have seven nieces and nephews, and you can be sure they are only getting one thing each!

I also don't think you need to but much (or anything!) for your son. He is only 9 months, he has no idea what Christmas is, so save your money!

My sibling has 3 kids all under 4. I bought them 2 things each and it still ate heavily into our (small) christmas budget totalling around $120. I ended up buying my own kid (only 7 months) only 1 thing so we wouldn't get too far off track and now feel bad for him. Would it be cheap of me to get them only 1 toy in the future or just spend the money?

When my mom was single and broke this sibling who is significantly older than me always provided a lot of presents when I was little and made the day so special. So I guess I feel like I have to repay the favor to her kids even though they make a ton more money than we do and their kids don't want for annnnnnything. But I digress.
