Lesson learned: don't mix FB and work. I made that mistake with a current co-worker. Politically we are actually on the same wavelength, but it's just a line that I now believe should not be crossed. It's weird reading her complain about work-related stuff on FB and then rave about how great it is in the office. And when she is getting on my nerves at work, I ignore her posts but then worry that she will notice I am not "liking" her posts.

I also have relatives who I thought were moderate but who, I have learned through FB, hold what I see as completely irrational political views, but that is a different matter altogether. FB is really a cluster.

I use it as an opportunity to learn another point of view. I am very good friends with a coworker who is very religious and very conservative. I love discussing issues with her as it opens my mind to another person's point of view. We almost never agree on issues, but we openly and honestly discuss our perspectives. I think I've learned more from her than I have from people who share my views.

Note- her beliefs are well thought out and she can explain her foundations for her beliefs. She doesn't just regurgitate the latest sound bite from conservative TV or radio shows.

You can hide their posts from your newsfeed (without their knowledge) and also restrict how many of your posts they see.

This is literally the exact reason I deactivated FB. I was getting too much information about people I didn't want to think that much about.

Why do you care? Everyone is entitled to opinions, even ones you don't share. What is it with liberals that are so intolerant of anyone different from themselves? They preach tolerance but only if it means tolerating their own insufferable selves. As soon as the pendulum swings the other way and they need to tolerate someone else then it's how to I cope with someone different from me? Go lock yourself in a closet and come out when you can play nice.

I say this as someone who falls somewhere in the middle and rarely votes for a he big parties anymore.
