I cut mine in late summer after they bloom. By then, the ends are browning.
I may cut them again for the last mow of the season.
I have liriope.

OP here. Thanks all! My instinct was to wait and given this advice that is what we'll do!

Rule of thumb is to cut after St Patrick's Day.

Our neighbors have beautiful stands of grasses. They always cut them down in March.

We cut ours after winter but before the fresh growth starts. So like March.

Just be sure they are cut before April, when they begin to grow. I leave mine through the winter for the birds and because they look nice.

I like the way they look in winter and that they are useful t wildlife. So I cut ours in March.

I read in one of the home and garden magazines to do it in December. Having said that, I usually do mine in early March, because that's when I remember and have motivation.

We planted a few different kinds of ornamental grasses this spring. I know I should cut them before they start growing again next spring but should I cut them now or wait until after winter?

Thanks!
