I'm pretty free range, but a big fat no to Echostage. It's not like 9:30 Club at all, where they have zero tolerance for underage drinking and drugs of any sort. I've been to lots of shows at lots of venues, and the things that go down at Echostage can still surprise me.

No the neighborhood is sketchy. Unless you drop them off and pick them up or if there is an adult with them.

Parking isn't bad, just expensive. Depending on the band, I'd just go with them.

No, not without an adult there with them. Myabe not event then. I wanted to take my middle schooler (13) to a show there (we live in the 'burbs), and we go to events in DC a lot, but I know the area around Echostage and decided not to do it (even with an adult along). Another parent and I both checked some online venue reviews and there was a lot of discussion about how limited and difficult parking was. Metro's a no-go. And as another person already mentioned, check the show -- some shows start earlier and are "all ages" and others are later and draw a different crowd. The show we would have seen was an all ages 7 p.m. show but I was familiar enough with that area of DC not to want to deal with the drive there, the parking issue, and having to slog home for over an hour from that part of DC. The act she wanted to see turned up in another venue a few months later that was much easier to get to and didn't give me concerns about its neighborhood. Just wait.

I would not. For contrast, I would absolutely let her go to the 9:30 Club. Echostage is too big and crowded for that age group, and its location is concerning.

For me the issue with Echostage is the neighborhood and how they get there. If you drop them off at the door and pick them up afterwards, it's probably ok.

However, you should check with the venue, as I believe that some shows are all ages and some are not. Be aware, also, that if it's EDM or certain other acts, drugs will be around. So evaluate how comfortable DD and her friends would be in that kind of environment.
