I was the OP of the thread. The reason I posted it is because, as a parent, leaving my infant behind to go on the trip was difficult and ended up being completely not worth it given what happened. I understand that it's not about parenting, but neither are many of the other threads on here. Maybe this could be a good opportunity to start a thread about issues pertaining to platonic friendships? Neither one of those threads had anything to do with parenting. It says this right at the top of the forum:

"Please post messages to the most appropriate forums. Wrongly posted messages will likely be deleted."
