While it can be quite comforting to believe that you will end up with him later on, you also need to prepare for the worst as well.

You can always keep your hopes up and see what happens in the future.

Until then, don't spend too much time thinking of this guy. I know, easier said than done.

But if you waste countless hours thinking of him, you will miss out on opportunities with available men who would love to date an awesome person like yourself.

We weren't friends for a good year or 2 after we split up, but we were both so young, and people change and grow up. I'm not the same person I was back then and neither is he. We've been through tough times together. He really is my best friend. Maybe it is weird, but I know him and I always felt like we would end up together. We just needed time, and I'm having a hard time with this. I mean he just met her 6 months ago. 6 months.What could she possibly know about him?

There is a reason he didn't propose after 5 years of being with you. He's not the one. Girlfriend is smart to stop enabling the train of thought you're having. It sucks but obv he doesn't (or didn't) see you the same way you see him.

We dated for 5 years, and lived together. He never proposed, but we still managed to be friends through all his other girlfriends.
I knew things were never serious even with the ex fiancee'. but it feels different with this girl.
Just before he met her I felt like things were finally falling into place for us again, but nope!
I keep thinking and maybe even hoping he'll get bored with her like he always does, but he hasn't and the way he looks at her and talks about her makes me sick.

I guess I always assumed/hoped that we would end up back together, and we almost were, and then she shows up. Literally out of nowhere.
