Inclusive and liberal school. Nice and intelligent kids. Little or no bullying. Standard academics are good but not excellent, except for writing program.

No, she explained what it meant in the same line. No bullying of the socially awkward or of the gay. My kids look pretty talentless so far, but fingers crossed something takes hold and Duke Ellington is an option for them down the line.

Admittance in all grades depends on space available in the arts discipline your child plans to pursue and varies a lot year to year (e.g. if many theatre students are graduating from the theatre program they may accept a a few more the following year at 9th and perhaps 10th).

Close friend's kid is in 10th grade. Likes it a lot. The arts block is terrific with great projects, opportunities to build a great portfolio, etc. Teachers in the other subjects are a mix of strong and not so strong but getting better.

Decent range of honors and AP classes. Very long school day - all the regular classes plus 2-3 hours in the arts block. Temporary space is challenging and the students spend time in each campus every day and thus are carrying a lot of their gear (instruments, art supplies/easel, etc) all the time.

Would love to know about people's experiences who have (or had) students attending this school. TIA!!
