One of my favorites. I do think it's likely to become super popular soon. It's got a lot of the sounds that are popular now (Lily, Sadie, Sophia all rolled into one), plus the gentle old lady feel (Evelyn, Lillian, Rose). This doesn't bother me, but it's something to consider if you don't like popular names.

My best friend in high school was Lydia. Very classic (and classical). The Lydia in P&P was a ditz, but I wouldn't let that influence me.

I love this as criteria for names - when we named DD1, I really wanted something unique but recognizable. I think Lydia fits that very well.

It is the name of one of the younger Bennett sisters in Pride and Prejudice, so I love it.
